Authentication
Learn how to sign in to B-Roll Me, manage your session, and switch between Credits and BYOK modes.
Overview
B-Roll Me has two operating modes, and whether you need to sign in depends on which one you're using:
Credits Mode
Requires sign-in. Uses your B-Roll Me credit balance to run AI analysis and evaluation.
BYOK Mode
No sign-in needed. Bring your own API keys from Anthropic, OpenAI, or other providers.
Authentication uses your phone number. You'll receive a one-time code via SMS to verify your identity. No password to remember, and no email required.
Once signed in, your session persists across app restarts. You won't need to sign in again unless your session expires or you sign out manually.
Signing In
To sign in, click Sign In in the app header, or switch to Credits mode — the sign-in screen will appear automatically if you're not already authenticated.
Follow these steps:
- Enter your phone number with the country code. For example, a US number looks like +15550001234.
- Tap Send Code. You'll receive a 6-digit code via SMS within a few seconds.
- Enter the code in the verification field.
- Tap Verify to complete sign-in.
Phone number format
Phone numbers must be in E.164 format: country code followed by the number, with no spaces or dashes. A US number would be +15550001234, not 555-000-1234 or +1 555 000 1234. The app's phone input handles formatting automatically if you use the country selector.
If you entered the wrong number, tap Use a different number on the verification screen to go back. If the code didn't arrive, wait 30 seconds and tap Resend Code.
Session Management
Your session is stored securely on your device. Close the app and reopen it — you'll still be signed in. There's nothing to do between sessions.
To sign out, open Settings and look for the sign-out option, or use the user menu in the app header. Signing out clears your session from the device.
Sessions can expire after extended inactivity. If that happens, you'll see the sign-in screen the next time you open the app or switch to Credits mode. Your projects and data are always preserved — only the session token expires, not your account or content.
Switching Between Credits and BYOK Modes
The mode toggle sits in the app header. It shows two options: Credits and API Keys. Click either one to switch.
A few things to know before switching:
- • Switching to Credits mode requires being signed in. If you're not, the sign-in screen appears first.
- • Switching to BYOK mode requires an active license or trial. See Getting Started for how to configure your API keys.
- • Your session is preserved when switching modes. You don't need to sign in again after toggling.
Your projects and analysis results are shared across both modes. Switching doesn't affect your data.
Troubleshooting
OTP code not received
- • Double-check the phone number format. It must include the country code (e.g., +1 for the US).
- • Check if your carrier or device is blocking SMS from short codes.
- • Wait 30 seconds, then tap Resend Code.
Session expired
Sign in again using your phone number. Your projects, moments, and downloaded clips are all preserved. Only the session token expires.
Can't switch to Credits mode
Make sure you're signed in first. If you see the sign-in screen, complete phone verification and then try switching modes again.
Can't switch to BYOK mode
BYOK mode requires an active license or trial. See Getting Started to set up your API keys and activate your license.
